In Western Conference NBA playoff action, the Phoenix Suns return home to take on the San Antonio Spurs in Game Five of the Western Conference Final, tonight at 9pm et/6pm pt. On the other side of the coin, we will be watching the next Miami - Detroit matchup tomorrow night in Miami. As mentioned, this series is tied 2-2 and it seems with Shaq not 100%, Detroit is the better team. Get your wagers in on this match up now.

After averting a sweep, the Phoenix Suns are not quite ready to see their remarkable season come to an end.

The Suns look for a second straight victory when they host the San Antonio Spurs in Game Five of the Western Conference final tonight.

Despite leading the league in scoring and winning 33 more games than last season, the Suns were on the verge of being swept by the NBA's top defensive team.

However, Amare Stoudemire scored 31 points and made some critical defensive plays in the second half, including a block on two-time Most Valuable Player Tim Duncan, to help prolong Phoenix's playoff run with a 111-106 road triumph over San Antonio on Monday.

Joe Johnson made 10-of-15 shots and scored 26 points in his second game back after breaking a bone near his left eye. NBA MVP Steve Nash collected 17 points and 12 assists and Shawn Marion grabbed 14 rebounds for the Suns, who shot 57 percent (44-for-77).

Phoenix dictated the tempo after being held to a playoff-low 92 points in Game Three.

Duncan also provided Phoenix with a lift in Game Four, missing 12-of-15 free throws. He made 15 straight from the line in Game Three.

Manu Ginobili scored 28 points and Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry added 15 apiece for the Spurs, who had a 45-37 rebounding edge in Game Four.

The Spurs remain one win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the second time in three years.

The Suns are trying to become the first team to win an NBA playoff series after losing the first three games.

If Phoenix wins, then the series moves back to San Antonio for Game Six on Friday.

Detroit ensured that the Eastern Conference finals will last at least six games, getting a big performance from Richard Hamilton on both ends of the court to defeat the Miami Heat 106-96 Tuesday night in Game 4 of their best-of-seven series.

Bouncing back strongly from a 2-1 deficit just as they did in the second round against Indiana, the Pistons took the lead for good after Shaquille O'Neal got into foul trouble midway through the first quarter and knotted the series 2-2 heading into Game 5 on Thursday night in Miami.

Game 6 will be Saturday on Detroit's court in what could be Brown's last home game as coach of the Pistons.

The 64-year-old Brown has met with the Cleveland Cavaliers about becoming their president of basketball operations, though he continued to insist Tuesday that he would like to continue coaching if his health allows it.

''We've got bigger things. We're worried about the Miami Heat, not what the coach is doing or whatever,'' Detroit guard Chauncey Billups said. ''We don't care about that now, we're trying to win the series, trying to defend our championship, not worry about what's going on after the season.''

The performance was the Pistons' most dominant of the series after they lost Games 2 and 3.

After the longshot Kentucky Derby victory by Giacomo and the gutsy Preakness victory by Afleet Alex, with what kind of phenomenal performance will the Triple Crown Series end?

Yesterday in training runs Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo worked seven furlongs in 1:27, breezing, at Hollywood Park this morning beneath Sabina Seibel. The 50-1 Derby upsetter worked in company with five-year-old colt Bullistic, who finished seven furlongs in 1:27 1/5.

Giacomo is considered a definite starter for the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes June 11th, barring any misfortunes over the next two weeks.

"He went nice," trainer John Shirreffs said. "It's always good to work with another horse to get some competition and a target."

Since the flight from California to New York is scheduled to leave June 6th, Shirreffs had to make an adjustment to Giacomo's schedule.

"Normally I wouldn't work him this soon after a race, but with the flight schedule, I thought this was the best option," said Shirreffs, who trains the colt for record producer Jerry Moss and his wife.

Shirreffs said that he was not disappointed with Giacomo's third-place Preakness finish, almost 10 lengths behind winner Afleet Alex.

"From what Mike (Smith) said, both him and Afleet Alex were going for the same hole and Afleet Alex beat him to it because he's got a little quicker turn of foot," Shirreffs said. "He's kind of one-paced, so I think the Belmont distance will be a good fit for him."

Lines for this race will be up soon!

One of the finest fields of the season will be on hand this week for the 30th staging of The Memorial Tournament, hosted by Jack Nicklaus. Seventeen of the top 25 players in the world are competing, including the top three in the world latest rankings (Vijay Singh, Tiger Woods and defending champion Ernie Els).

The 105-player field features 40 international players from 17 nations outside the United States. Included are players from Australia, Canada, England, Fiji, France, Germany, Northern Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Paraguay, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Wales. Australia leads the way, with 14 players in the field.

The purse this week totals $5.25 million, with the winner pocketing $945,000. The runner-up will get $567,000, while the third-place finisher will receive $357,000.

Muirfield Village, designed by Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead, is ranked 18th by Golf Digest in America's 100 greatest courses. The course, created in 1974, now measures 7,265 yards and plays to a par of 72.

Tiger missed the cut at The Byron Nelson Championship.
