  • Highlights from betED NCAA Party
  • Rainy weekend ahead for Masters?
  • NBA Power Rankings

We are taking a break this week from our Girl of the Week to focus on four of them! The betED girls were out in full force Monday night in Vancouver as the betED Party Crew took over "relish - The Restaurant & Lounge" and turned it into March Madness Headquarters! We'd like to thank "relish" for allowing us to come in and turn their lounge upside down for the event! They were all good sports and we ended up guzzling a couple of kegs of beer and saw virtually everyone in the room walk away with some kind of betED prize. Good times were had by all and we can't wait until our next party! Stay tuned - details are coming soon! Check out the gallery section of the website to see all the highlights as well as some of the images below.

North Carolina came out strong against the Illini on Monday night and ended the victor in a hard fought battle in St. Louis. The much anticipated matchup between the 2 teams left from the original 65 saw the favorites win it all. Now that March Madness is all but a memory for another year, we have plenty of NBA playoff races to watch; not to mention the Masters coming up this weekend and MLB Season kicking off with it's full slate of games!

Some NBA highlights to keep your eye on this week include San Antonio @ Dallas tomorrow night as well as Houston in LA to meet with the Lakers!

Hey - let's go...

North Carolina's Roy Williams and MVP Sean May celebrate after defeating Illinois 75-70 to win the NCAA Championship in St. Louis Monday

Sean May celebrated his 21st birthday by giving North Carolina's "team" the inside track to a national title.

The overpowering May scored 18 of his 26 points in the second half and North Carolina withstood a furious rally by Illinois for a 75-70 victory and its fourth NCAA championship, giving coach Roy Williams his first title.

In one of the most efficient performances in NCAA Tournament history, May made 10-of-11 shots and undermined undersized Illinois, which had lost just once this season with its perimeter-based three-guard attack.

"This is unbelievable," said May, who was selected Final Four Most Outstanding Player. "My friends and family celebrated (my birthday) last night. The fans gave us great support. I'll never forget this. It's the best day of my life."

May also grabbed 10 rebounds as he wreaked havoc with Illinois' big men, fouling out James Augustine and nearly doing the same to Jack Ingram. And it almost wasn't enough for North Carolina (33-4).

Despite May's presence in the paint, the Fighting Illini (37-2) lived up to their name, charging back from a 15-point second-half deficit by firing away from 3-point range. They were 12-of-40 from the arc, setting a championship record for 3-point shots.

"It's not supposed to be easy. They got hot," May said. "They played well, but we didn't give up. We wanted to win."

It was a disappointing ending to a stellar season for Illinois, which was denied the first championship in school history. The Illini have won 37 games in the NCAA Tournament, the most of any school without a title.

North Carolina shot 52 percent (27-of-52) while Illinois shot just 39 percent (27-of-70).

It was a packed house at "relish - The Restaurant & Lounge" on Monday night for the betED.com March Madness Party. The betED Girls were representing and everyone had a great time trying to keep one eye on the game while the lovely ladies were strolling around handing out free beer and betED prizes! (CP) Augusta National Golf Course has basked in hot, sunny weather this week, boosting everyone's sprits around the clubhouse after an ugly spring on the PGA Tour.

"You know, it's quite unbelievable to play in the sunshine for a change," said South African star Ernie Els.

But rain and heavy thunderstorms are expected for Thursday's first round of the Masters, which is par for the course this season. Eight of the 14 PGA Tour events this year have been delayed by bad weather and the pros are getting a sick of it.

"It's annoying, are you kidding me?," said Canadian Stephen Ames. "I've been sick at home in Calgary from playing in the rain in the past several weeks that I've played. It hasn't been fun. We're all hoping it's going to get better from here on in."

Rain is no stranger at Augusta. The last three Masters tournaments have had rain delays, including in 2003 when the entire first round was wiped out. Mike Weir battled those tough conditions to win the tournament.

"Everybody is just going to have to deal with it, we're just going to have deal with maybe waiting around tomorrow, being patient," the native of Bright's Grove, Ont., said Wednesday. "I remember 2003 - there was a lot of waiting around. You just have to keep your mind focused on what you're doing."

A little rain and mud could be what Weir secretly wishes for.

"I think that's one of the best parts of my game," he said. "In tough weather I seem to play very well. So I'm not too concerned if it gets windy or sloppy."

World No. 1 Vijay Singh isn't fretting the rain.

"Well, it's not tough on me," he said. "It just makes the golf course a lot more receptive to wayward shots. Especially approaching the greens right now, if you don't hit it precisely where you want to land the ball, it's going to roll off the green."

The greens played as hard and fast as they have in years during Wednesday's practice round, according to players, making it nearly impossible to stick approach shots near the pin - or sometimes on the green.

They're calling for rain this weekend in Augusta.

NBA Top 5 Power Rankings by ESPN's Marc Stein - Week 22

Rank (Last Wk) Team Rec. Comment
1 (1) Suns 56-17

The run-and-gunners have scored 120-plus points 18 times. Suns did it only 10 times in the previous seven seasons.

2 (2) Heat 55-19

In case you still need convincing that Shaq makes a difference, be advised that Heat had only 13 road wins last season ... compared to 22 already with five road games left.

3 (3) Spurs 54-19

Spurs are nearly back to .500 without Duncan (5-6), and dare we also say Duncan can find a playoff rhythm quickly even if he doesn't play before the regular season ends.

4 (7) Mavs 49-24

You can deal with a lopsided L at Cavs after Ws at Detroit, Boston and Philly -- in the same week Stack and Damp return.

5 (8) Nuggets 41-31

Throw out their last two games against Phoenix and Furious George has Nuggets on a stunning 17-0 run. Overall they're 14-1 at home for the new coach and 10-5 on the road.
