In this week's newsletter, we have rookie Julius Jones of the Dallas Cowboys leading an amazing, last minute come from behind victory over the Seattle Seahawks in the Monday Night Football "Battle of the Mediocre", NJ Nets trade rumors surrounding Jason Kidd and Detroit Red Wings star Brendan Shanahan taking matters into his own hands with a mini pseudo-summit in Toronto starting today in hopes of assisting with the current NHL lockout. Of course, our weekly look at a featured NFL cheerleader!

At 11-1, the Eagles have already clinched the NFC East Division title! It probably has a lot to do with the incredible support they get from gals like this week's hottie, "Janette", on the sidelines!

The Eagles have now reached the 11-win plateau in five consecutive seasons. That mark has happened just three times previously in NFL history - Dallas (1977-81), Dallas (1991-95), and San Francisco (1994-98).

Rookie Julius Jones shredded the Seahawks defense.

Down 10 with two minutes left. No team in Monday Night Football history had come back in that situation, but Dallas did, stunning Seattle 43-39. Rookie Julius Jones ran for his third TD with 17 seconds left to keep the Cowboys (5-7) in the hunt for an NFC playoff spot. And just like that, the Seattle Seahawks were again left to explain how they crumbled so helplessly in the closing minutes.

"I have confidence in myself, but this is really unexpected," Jones said.

Then they breathed a sigh of relief when Matt Hasselbeck 's desperation heave from midfield bounced off two Dallas defenders and receiver Bobby Engram 's facemask before landing in the end zone on the final play.

Note: The attendance of 68,093 was a record for Seattle's three-year-old stadium.!

New Jersey activated Jason Kidd from the injured list Monday and the star point guard paid immediate dividends in his season debut, an 88-86 Nets win over Toronto. Kidd assisted on Richard Jefferson's difference-maker with 7.1 ticks left

The Nets floundered with just four wins in their first 16 games without Kidd, who has been recovering from offseason knee surgery, but showed renewed vigor with their leader back on the floor. It wasn't pretty early, however, as Kidd committed five turnovers in the first half, misfiring on a number of fast-break passes

"My home run pass is a little rusty," said Kidd, who scored his first points on a jumper from the left elbow midway through the second quarter. "I felt great after I hit that first shot. I had a couple of great practices and I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be."

The Raptors meanwhile tied a season high with nine 3-pointers and controlled the game most of the way - trailing only once in the first 45 minutes - before falling apart. They have lost four straight games and are just 2-11 on the road.

Jason Kidd's return pleased the home crowd Monday night.

Detroit Red Wings star Bendan Shanahan heads up on 'informal' NHL meeting in Toronto.

Brendan Shanahan knows the NHL lockout will end one day. And when it does, the Detroit Red Wings star hopes fans will come back to a better game.

That's why he's organized a two-day hockey summit beginning here Tuesday with some of the game's biggest movers and shakers.

''I just thought it would be interesting to sit in a room together and discuss the game of hockey - just the game of hockey,'' Shanahan said over the phone Monday. ''I felt that when we do come back (from the lockout), we really need to get our focus back on the game of hockey.

''Regardless of what side you're on (in the labor talks), nobody is bigger than the game of hockey and I just wanted to put the focus back on the game.''

''My intention here is not to one-up or sidestep anybody."

Still this is Shanahan's show, not the union's. No one from the NHLPA or NHL hierarchy will be present."

Stay tuned for more - hopefully we'll have hockey to watch and wager on again soon!

With only 4 more weeks of regular season play until NFL playoffs begin, watch for some great matchups next weekend including the Pittsburgh, New England and Philly contests to see who stays tops in the league.
